Rabbinic Alumnus Award
Rabbi Eytan London (‘04)
Eytan London is an esteemed alum of Westchester High School and has recently returned to the school on the “other side of the desk” as a teacher. He is currently teaching Navi and Gemara in the school and is excited by the opportunity to give back to the school which offered him so much.
Eytan grew up in New Rochelle before his parents, Amy and Ronny, decided to move across town to Scarsdale. He attended Westchester Day School for his elementary school years.
Upon the completion of his eighth grade studies, the choice was clear; Westchester Hebrew High School was the place for him. The small environment and numerous opportunities greatly enticed Eytan, just like it had for his older brother Ari (’01). He instantly immersed himself in the many academic and extra-curricular activities offered by WHHS. He was a proud member of the Hockey Team, Softball team and College Bowl team during his school years.
Merely being a member was not sufficient for Eytan, he always managed to be a leader for his classmates and teammates. Eytan was president of student government and captain of the hockey team (leading them to their first and only playoff victory in school history).
When he reflects back on his years in Westchester, Eytan thinks about the close relationships he forged with a number of his Rebbeim, many of whom he is still close with today. These positive influences helped meld him into who he is today. It is these memories that inspire Eytan as he enters the classroom every day.
The values and lessons which Eytan acquired at WHHS accompanied him on his journey to Reishit Yerushalayim and Yeshiva University thereafter. As a psychology major, he always had his mind set on studying to attain his Semicha degree. In addition, Eytan is currently completing his Masters in Jewish Education at the Azrieli School of Jewish Education. He credits much of his success to the roots he established in his formative years at Westchester.
Along with his lovely wife Allie, and super adorable son, Moshe, the London’s currently reside in Riverdale. After a summer internship at the Riverdale Jewish Center, Eytan is presently the Rabbinic Intern at the Young Israel of Scarsdale. It is his privilege to once again be learning from Rabbi Jonathan Morgenstern, his former teacher, mentor and coach at Westchester.
Eytan is greatly honored to be receiving this award and wishes a Mazal Tov to all of the other honorees this evening.
